ŽIBUOKLĖ MARTINAITYTĖ – „Nunc stans. Nunc fluens“ perkusijai ir styginiams (premjera, 2020)

Žibuoklė Martinaitytė – Jungtinėse Amerikos Valstijose gyvenanti lietuvių kompozitorė. Jos muzikai būdingas teatrališkumas, modernumas, asociatyvi, erdviškumo pojūtį teikianti atmosfera. 2019 m. kompozitorė pelnė net du prestižinių muzikos apdovanojimų „Global Music Awards“ aukso medalius, 2020 m. jai skirta Vyriausybės kultūros ir meno premija.

„Garsuose ieškau paslėptos prasmės, glūdinčios kiekviename šios visatos atome. Kiekvienu kūriniu noriu užduoti egzistenciškai svarbų klausimą ir atsakyti į jį“ – teigė Ž. Martinaitytė. 2020 m. sukurto kūrinio pavadinimas radosi iš lotyniško Boecijaus posakio „Nunc fluens facit tempus. Nunc stans facit aeternitatum“, lietuviškai skambančio kaip „Dabartis, kuri teka, kuria laiką. Dabartis, kuri išlieka, kuria amžinybę“. Ši mintis apie galimas skirtingas dabarties patirtis – vieną tekančią ir kitą stovinčią – itin rezonavo su išgyvenamu viruso pandemijos laikotarpiu. „Netikėtai visi patekome į tokį laiką, kuriame yra tik dabartis. Ateities kuriam laikui nebeliko, nes galvojimas apie ją rodosi kiek absurdiškas – juk jos gali ir nebūti. Praeitis irgi nusitrynė, pavirto tarsi kadaise sapnuotu sapnu… Turime tik dabartį, kuri tarsi prarado savo tėkmę, sustojo ir kuriam laikui sustingo“, – sakė kompozitorė. „ Nunc fluens. Nunc stans“ perkusijai ir styginiams – diptikas, kurio dvi dalys atliekamos be pertraukos. Pirmoji atspindi tekantį, o antroji – sustojusį laiką.

Kūrinio premjeros atlikėjai: solistas, vienas žymiausių Lietuvos perkusininkų Pavelas Giunteris, Lietuvos kamerinis orkestras, dirigentas Vilmantas Kaliūnas.

ŽIBUOKLĖ MARTINAITYTĖ – “Nunc stans. Nunc fluens” for percussion and strings (premiere, 2020)

Žibuoklė Martinaitytė is a Lithuanian composer living in the United States of America. Her music is distinguished by theatrical character, modernity, an associative atmosphere that generates a sense of space. In 2019, the composer won two gold medals at the prestigious Global Music Awards, and in 2020, she was awarded the Lithuanian Government Culture and Art Prize.

“In sounds, I seek the hidden meaning that lies within every atom of this universe. I want to ask an existential question and to find answer to it with every new composition”, said Martinaitytė. The title of the work written in 2020 came from Boethius’ Latin dictum “Nunc fluens facit tempus. Nunc stans facit aeternitatum”, which translates into English as “The now that passes produces time, the now that remains produces eternity”. This idea of possible different experience of the present – one passing and the other standing still – resonated greatly with the current period of the virus pandemic. “Suddenly we all found ourselves in a time where there is only the present. The future is gone for a while, because thinking about it seems a bit absurd – after all, it may not come. The past has also rubbed off, turned into a dream from some time ago… We only have the present, which seems to have lost its flow, stopped and froze for a while”, said the composer. “Nunc fluens. Nunc stans” for percussion and strings is a diptych, the two movements of which are performed without interruption. The first reflects the flowing time and the second the stagnant time. Performers of the premiere of the work: soloist Pavel Giunter, one of the most famous Lithuanian percussionists, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, conductor Vilmantas Kaliūnas.
