Original Cantonese Song by Man Pui Ling (文佩玲).

This 1988 series covers the downfall of the Ming Dynasty. It had a great cast but the plot was a real let down. It tells the story of a young prince who aims to fight corruption led by a enuch with 13 assassins identifable by the unique knives they carry. Later he becomes the emperor and falls to the same corruption himself, doubting his loyal friends and even causing their deaths until it is too late and his empire is overthrown.

The series stars Ray Lui (呂良偉) who plays the Chongzhen Emperor (崇禎帝). Although he is one of my favourite actors, I really disliked the character he played in this series. He has a loyal wife yet for Rebecca Chan’s character, he becomes obsessed with her leading to the doom of his kingdom. His co-star was Shek Sau (石修) but I couldn't get into his character either. He was equally unlikeable. He loves Rebecca Chan’s character and really only does good deeds because of her. He doesnt really care for the people. Got tricked by an evil person causing the death of someone who really loves him. Other notable cast members included Michael Tao (陶大宇) and Newton Lai (黎漢持).

Rebecca Chan (陳秀珠) was the main female lead and I enjoyed both her role and character. She was the main interest and because of her devotion to duty, marries the Emperor and foresakes the man she loves. Thereby causing chaos in the kingdom. Other female cast members included Wong Man Yee (黃敏儀), Carrie Choi (蔡嘉利), Cheung Yim Fong (鄭艷鳳) and Yung Wai Mun (容惠雯).

The sub song is titled "The One You Love Is Me" by Man Pui Ling. I really liked this song and think that Man Pui Ling is a very underrated singer. I didn't know much about her or her work until I started this channel. Anyway enjoy...
