“The Great Wall Ballad" is a Chinese patriotic song written and composed by Pao Maonong and Liu Xue'an in 1937. The song became popular in China during WWII while they fought the Japanese. It is still popular today in both Taiwan and Mainland China due to its apolitical lyrics. I found the English translation used in this video in a 1940s American song book titled "Fireside Book of Folk Songs." The book credited the translation to Louise S Hammond, I can find about him. I also made some minor changes to his original translation.
「長城謠」是1937年由潘孑农作词，刘雪庵作曲的抗日愛國歌曲。由於其非政治的歌詞，如今依然被台灣和大陸人傳唱。影片中的英文版歌詞大體是我在一本美國40年代的「爐邊民歌集」中發現的，也有我個人的一些改動。
