Description
The tenth in a series of videos about exploring harmony at the piano. This video discuses guide tones, a concept that will be the foundation for understanding voice leading in harmony and for adding color to our voicings at later stages.
This series explores many aspects of harmony at the piano from chord voicings and chord progressions to practice strategies and tips for improvisation. It begins at a beginner level with basic information about triads, major and minor chords, and the like and proceeds to explore increasingly complex topics found in jazz piano playing and other genres. Many of the ideas will be of use to aspiring jazz pianists but the harmonic language in these videos is also applicable to playing, composing and improvising in classical, pop, gospel and other styles of music.
