Description
In 18th-century France, there existed a method of execution known as the 'breaking wheel.' In this method, the condemned would be tied to a large rotating wheel, and one of the wheel's arms would start turning. As the wheel rotated, the individual would ascend and then slowly descend.
This torture method prolonged the suffering of the condemned. If the individual managed to avoid hitting the protrusions on the wheel during the descent, they would be punished instead of being sentenced to death. However, most of the time, this process continued in a long and agonizing manner. This execution method was one of the most brutal and striking techniques used during that era."
