Description
Movie: “Pinocchio” (Walt Disney/RKO), starring (the voices of) Cliff Edwards, Dickie Jones, Christian Rub, Evelyn Venable, Walter Catlett, and Frankie Darro.
Digitally processed from the 78rpm single: Victor 26477 - When You Wish Upon A Star (Ned Washington-Leigh Harline) as originally sung by Jiminy Cricket and chorus with orchestra. Edwards had recorded his songs for the “Pinocchio” soundtrack back in 1938 and they were eventually issued by Victor on commercial 78s when the film was released in early 1940. By then he was contracted to another company (Decca), so you don’t see his name on the label here….only “as originally sung by Jiminy Cricket.” It was this movie soundtrack version of the iconic Disney theme that also opened ABC’s “Disneyland” television series between 1954 and 1961.
