In 1947 the popular singing-cowboy movie and radio star took a recording break from his usual western-themed and country tunes to give us this first of his three substantial Christmas/wintertime hits (‘Rudolph’ would arrive in ’49, ‘Frosty’ in ’50). Co-writer Autry’s single achieved a #9 spot on the national best-sellers listings and also re-charted in 1948 and 1949.
