Though composed back in the mid-1930s by songwriting greats Bert Kalmar, Harry Ruby, and Oscar Hammerstein II, it languished in obscurity until Satchmo performed it in the 1951 Mickey Rooney film “The Strip.” See also the popular version by Hugo Winterhalter.
