This second consecutive Mancini-Mercer Oscar winner (after “Moon River” the year before) was the theme for the Blake Edwards-directed drama about alcoholism which had originally been presented as a 1958 “Playhouse 90” TV presentation starring Cliff Robertson and Piper Laurie.
