The best-known hits of the Australian group were written or co-written by Tom Springfield (Dusty’s brother), who adapted his new lyrics here to a late-19th Century Russian folk song. This was a major hit in several countries with over a million copies eventually sold in the UK, but it failed to attract much attention in the U.S.
