Aside from the epic performances at the 2012 American Music Awards, here are your highlights from the show including Jenny McCarthy hitting on Bieber and an epic Psy-MC Hammer mash up! You're watching ClevverMusic with your music news. We were at the American Music Awards to chat with the stars on the carpet before the show and to see the action as it happened. This was the 40th Anniversary AMA held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, and was commemorated with moments of classic footage of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, and more throughout the show.

Ryan Seacrest gave a touching speech for his 'Idol', the late host Dick Clark. Dick passed away at the age of 82 due to a heart attack earlier this year. Dick created the AMAs 40 years ago to compete with the Grammys and this is the first show without him. Then as images of Dicks' career playing across the screens, singer Stevie Wonder performed a tribute of songs including, "My Cherie Amour" and "Sir Duke".

Another highlight was 18-year-old Justin Bieber getting "violated" by Jenny McCarthy who presented him with his biggest win of the night, the award for "Artist of the Year". In a cougar moment for 40-year-old Jenny, as Justin walked onto stage to accept his award, she grabbed him from behind and kissed him on the neck. Bieber was startled and totally freaked out. As he started his acceptance speech he said, "Wow. I feel violated right now," he joked. To make it even more awkward he pulled his Mom on stage to accept the award with him.

Our final favorite moment from the show was K-Pop sensation Psy who closed the show singing his viral video hit, "Gangnam Style". We were promised a surprise guest would join him on stage, and a surprise it was. MC Hammer came out to dance the infamous dance and transitioned into a mashup of "Gangnam Style" and "Too Legit To Quit". We didn't see that one coming.
