Description
Did you know that an obscure bhajan of Sant Namdev, in Hindi, has a sort of connection to Maharashtra's most revered and cherished king, along with the beautiful religious tradition of Sikhism? Kumarji used to sing a beautiful bhajan by Sant Namdev called "Aau Kalandar Kesava". This bhajan actually is also a part of the Guru Granth Sahib, at Ang 1167 (Page 1167). This bhajan can also be interpreted as a prophecy from Namdev Maharaj describing a King that was going to grace the land much later from his living times. The king was Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (1630–1680 CE), and he fits into this description, vis-a-vis his weight, and the robes he wore. This is why I choose to sing this bhajan today, the day after the 350th anniversary of the Shivchhatrapati rajyabhishek.
