Elegant Gypsy is by far my favourite Al Di Meola solo album. I really like “Land of the Midnight Sun” and “Orange and Blue” but this one just stuck with me over the years. Race with the Devil on the Spanish Highway is the track on this album that gets the most attention but for me my favourite part of the album was this solo section from Flight over Rio. I also Love Jan Hammer. I like Jan’s Playing so much I had to also cover his keyboard solo parts. His Oberheim keyboard/guitar tone fits in perfectly with Al’s guitar. If anyone was ever confused why Al Di Meola left Return to Forever, putting on Elegant Gypsy from start to finish answers all those questions
