Description
Track 2 from their eleventh studio album and fourteenth release “Where It All Begins” copyright 1994 Sony Music. The album was recorded live in the studio and achieved Gold status in 1997. This would be the last studio album to feature original member Dickey Betts. Shortly after the release of the live album "Peakin' At The Beacon" in 2000, he was asked by the other members to leave until he cleaned up his act. He had been increasingly difficult to work with due to his attitude and level of substance abuse. Feeling unfairly treated, he sued the band, making the split permanent, and received an undisclosed cash settlement. Written by Gregg Allman, Warren Haynes, Allen Woody & Jack Pearson and produced by Tom Dowd. RIP Tom Dowd, Allen Woody, Butch Trucks, Gregory Lenoir Allman & Dickey Betts. Featuring:
Gregg Allman – Lead vocals, Hammond B-3 organ & piano
Dickey Betts – Lead vocals, lead, rhythm & acoustic guitars
Warren Haynes – Lead vocals, lead, slide & rhythm guitars & background vocals
Allen Woody – Bass & background vocals
Jai Johanny Johanson – Drums, percussion & background vocals
Butch Trucks – Drums, percussion & background vocals
Marc Quinones – Congas & percussion
Lately I don't know where I went wrong
But the spell of that pretty young girl is far too strong
Between her fine perfume and angel face
My whole world became another place
The dark side of her intelligence was so strong
Soon there'd be no difference in right or wrong
Next thing I know I had a key that unlocked her door
I could not wait to hear the siren's song
The beginnin' of the end of my happy home
Ah, sailin', sailing 'cross the devil's sea, ooh-hoo
Too blind in love, too blind to see
I heard them say the payback's double-fold
I just can't seem to remember who I bought and sold
I'll probably still be here when you come around next year
Tryin' to climb from this deep dark hole
I'll be damned if I just don't feel I'm growin' old
Ah, sailin', sailing 'cross the devil's sea, ooh-hoo
Too blind in love, too blind to see, yeah
'Cause she was eviler than evil, slippery like a fox
She set up with pain and woe and I swear it won't seem to stop
If I could just remove her hook deep from within my soul
Swear I'll leave and not come back, just let me out that door
Sailin', sailing 'cross the devil's sea, ooh-hoo
Too blind in love, too blind to see
