Description
The Silver Bell (Le Timbre d'Argent), by Saint Saëns, was first presented in 1877, although it had been written about a decade before. It is a fantasy opera—a fevered dream—which revolves around a magic silver bell which grants gifts of gold, when wished for, but at the cost of someone's death.
