-History:
Alte Kameraden is a German march song with a pretty interesting background. It's written by a composer and at that time soldier called Carl Teike in Ulm.When he presented the song to the Kapellmeister of his regiment back in 1889, he apparently said loud and clear: "We have more then enough musical marches in the repertoire; throw it in the stove." Instead of throwing the song away, Teike resigned from the army and became a police officer instead. He wrote over 100 other songs after resigning from the army. Dispite this song being pre-ww2, it still recieved a bad reputation due to its controversial involvement during ww2.
There are many records with this instrumental version on the market, usually very cheap. The march version of the song is very old. The lyrics got added later.
