Description
Kumarji’s description of Varsha in his Gaud Malhar bandish — “Amraiyyan Ke Birkhan Ke” comes like a breath of fresh air. The imagery shown in the bandish indicates a keen sense of observation. Isn’t it a beautiful sight, when droplets of rain glisten in the sun once the rain takes a break, and as all nature tries to settle with the outpour and make way for the water? This is a departure from traditional themes, and shows the prowess of Kumarji as a composer and lyricist to be able to beautifully pen and compose these thoughts! There is no nayika bhed here, just a beautiful and simple description of nature during the rains.
