In this continuation of Building Spiritual Stature, An Encounter with Jesus(Part 1) , Pastor Shola opens by answering a crucial question: Why did Jesus come?

Why did Jesus come? Jesus came as :

As the bodily representation of God, revealing to us the true image and nature of the Father.
To make the life of God — Zoe — accessible to all through the forgiveness of sins.
To enforce our king–priest stature in Him, restoring our dominion on the earth.

Pastor Shola also indicates that the name of Jesus in Scripture is sometimes used interchangeably with fire (Exodus 3:2, Luke 3:16, Hebrews 12:29) and light (Acts 9:4). These are both symbols of His purifying, illuminating presence.

He further teaches that in Exodus 3:11–15 and Exodus 6:2 (MSG), God reveals Himself as I AM, a declaration of His eternal, self-sufficient, and self-existing nature. Jesus echoes this in John 8:56–58 (NKJV), identifying Himself as the Great I AM.

Ways Jesus Qualifies Himself as the I AM

I am the Bread of Life (John 6:35)
I am the Light of the World (John 8:12)
I am the Door (John 10:9)
I am the Good Shepherd (Psalm 23:1–2)
I am the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25 NKJV)
I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6)
I am the Vine (John 15:5)

He concludes the teaching by indicating that each of these declarations reveals a facet of Jesus’ nature that we must encounter personally if we are to grow in spiritual stature.
