Description
This performance of Ara Dinkjian's Offering was featured in our 'Music from Armenia' concert. The Chamber Players of the Greenwich Symphony welcomed guest artists Arsen Petrosyan, duduk, Ara Dinkjian, oud, Sami Merdinian, violin, and Annamae Goldstein, violin, who performed this piece alongside David Creswell, viola, and Daniel Miller, cello, on Monday, April 8, 2024 for a live audience at the Greenwich Arts Council in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Ara Dinkjian’s Offering was written for his dying maternal grandmother, Armenouhie Mallanian Maksian, a survivor of the Armenian Genocide. The piece’s two themes represent a dialogue between grandmother and grandson, in which he asks her, “What is life?” She replies, “Life is love.”
