Description
John Levy, Korean Music of 1964 #1 (존 리비, 1964년 한국음악을 말하다 1부)
Rare materials on Korean music of the 1960s kept at the School of Scottish Studies at the University of Edinburgh saw the light of day after 50 years. The person who deserves credit for this is John Levy, who visited Korea in 1964 and stayed for about 50 days, during which he recorded Korean music. The rare materials on Korean music left by John Levy include a 20-hour reel-to-reel tape, more than 300 photo slides, an album that he released after returning to the U.K. and a tape of Korean music that went on air for the first time on BBC-FM radio. This program introduces the history of Korean music of the 1960s through John Levy's recordings. It takes a look at John Levy's collection of music and slide photos, royal music, geomungo sanjo and pansori, and introduces the characteristics of Korean music as well as life in Korea in the 1960s.
