Description
Traditional Korean Folksong Arranged by Hyo-Won Woo
Arirang is the unofficial national song of Korea, and has been nominated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by both North and South Korea. When North and South Korean athletes have competed as a single team, Arirang is used for their entrance and podium music, and it was prominent in the Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics. The song is thought to be at least 600 years old. There are over 3600 variations of about 60 versions of the song. During the 1910 – 1945 occupation of Korea by Japan, it became a resistance anthem, and, ironically, very popular in Japan as well.
