WHAT IS WORLD DANCE at Ailey Extension NYC?
In a world with remarkable power to communicate through dance and music, Ailey Extension is bringing together communities of every background to celebrate and share the rich heritage from around the world. The World Dance Celebration Performance workshop features internationally renowned artist in West African, Samba/Afro Brazilian, Bellydance, Afro Cuban, and NY Style Mambo. Students participate in an 8-week performance workshop learning traditional dance and music, culminating with 2 performances at the Ailey CitiGroup Theater, June 8th (7:30pm) & 9th (2pm).

Most of the dancers who participate in the World Dance Series are real people with normal jobs and a shared loved for dance!! Some dancers may have a little dance background or non at all! It's a series for beginners and lovers of dance to experience rehearsal type settings and 2 professional shows!! These 8 incredible ladies worked very hard with me in 8 rehearsals over the course of 8 weeks. I AM SO PROUD OF EACH OF THEM for what they accomplished!!
