I was trying to pick a song to reimagine this week when my brother randomly said two words: Def Leppard.

And just like that… I was gone.

I used to love them — like, obsessively — and once he said it, I couldn’t shake the sound from my head. I went back and listened to “Gods of War”… and something in me clicked. That epic glam-metal fire, the theatrical sorrow, the outrage under all that melody — I felt it all again. So this happened.

Ashes and Steel is my own rebellion. It’s a cry from the middle of collapse — about refusing to fight for things that are already broken. About being surrounded by lies, institutions, systems, even emotions… that used to mean something, but now only leave you bleeding for rust.

I wrote this with the help of ChatGPT (structure, pacing, lyrics), created the imagery, storyboards, and animated the video in MidJourney, performed the lip-sync in Dzine, and synced it all together through sheer determination once the idea took hold.

This is not a cover. It’s a new song with new lyrics — but it carries the soul of a sound I grew up with and needed to hear again.
