But, was captured and disarmed as Taft and Diaz passed the guy

Teddy Roosevelt, about to give a speech, y’see
October 14, 1912 in downtown Milwaukee
Barkeeper John Schrank raised his gun and shot him in the chest
The folded speech saved his life, though, ‘tween ribs, the slug would rest

Harry Truman, staying at the Blair House in DC
Was attacked on November 1, of 1950
Collazo and Torresola, a firefight ensued
Truman was unhurt and both activists were subdued

Gerald Ford at California’s Capitol, I hear
The fifth day of September 1975, the year
’Squeaky’ Fromme, a pistol in her hand as he came ‘round
She pulled the trigger, no round in the chamber, prison-bound

Good thing that they were caught

Sadly, Ford, again, September 22nd, due
In San Francisco, Sara Jane Moore and her gun there, too
From the crowd, she aimed and fired, but someone grabbed her arm
The bullet hit a wall, fortunately, Ford was unharmed

Ronald Reagan, March 30, 1981
Left a DC hotel for his car, John Hinckley had a gun
He fired six shots and one hit Reagan, his condition, grave
John found insane, while surgeons, the president, they would save

Donald Trump, while at his rally in Butler, PA
July 13th, 2024, a Saturday
Thomas Crooks fired nine shots from the weapon that he brought
One hit Trump's ear, the Don survived, but Thomas, he did not
