Auferstanden aus Ruinen (German for "Rise From Ruins") is the national anthem of East Germany from 1949 to 1990.

The lyrics were written by Johannes R. Becher and the music was composed by Hanns Eisler. Because there is a reference to a united German state (Deutschland, einig Vaterland, in Indonesian "German, a unified homeland"), because it is incompatible with Cold War policy and context, especially after the Berlin Wall was founded in 1961, this song is usually played without the song being sung at official events.

"Auferstanden aus Ruinen" was no longer the national anthem when the German Democratic Republic broke up and its states joined the Federal Republic of Germany in German reunification in 1990. "Deutschlandlied", composed in 1841, became the united German national anthem again. East German Prime Minister Lothar de Maizière has proposed that Becher's lyrics be added to the united German national anthem, but this was rejected by his West German counterpart, chancellor Helmut Kohl.

At the end of its last broadcast on October 2, 1990, East German international radio broadcaster Radio Berlin International ended the radio broadcast with a vocal version of the East German national anthem.

Auferstanden aus Ruinen (Jerman untuk "Bangkit dari Puing-Puing") adalah lagu kebangsaan Jerman Timur dari tahun 1949 sampai tahun 1990.

Liriknya ditulis oleh Johannes R. Becher dan musiknya digubah oleh Hanns Eisler. Karena adanya rujukan terhadap sebuah negara Jerman yang bersatu (Deutschland, einig Vaterland, dalam bahasa Indonesia "Jerman, tanah air bersatu"), karena tidak sesuai dengan kebijakan dan konteks Perang Dingin, terutama setelah Tembok Berlin didirikan pada tahun 1961, maka biasanya lagu ini dimainkan tanpa dinyanyikan lagunya pada acara-acara resmi.

"Auferstanden aus Ruinen" tidak lagi menjadi lagu kebangsaan ketika Republik Demokratik Jerman bubar dan negara-negara bagiannya bergabung dengan Republik Federal Jerman dalam reunifikasi Jerman pada 1990. "Deutschlandlied", yang disusun pada tahun 1841, menjadi lagu kebangsaan Jerman bersatu lagi .
