Augie Rios was twelve when he lamented the non-appearance of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve on this disc, which was heavily promoted in Billboard in the last issues of 1958.
At the time of this disc’s release Augie was appearing in a Broadway musical, “Jamaica” with Lena Horne and Ricardo Montablán. Metro was an MGM subsidiary and Augie moved to the parent label for another Christmas disc, “Feliz Navidades (Merry Christmas To All)” in 1960. Further releases included a revival of the Turbans’ “When You Dance” in 1964.
“Dónde Está Santa Claus” was revived in 1978 by Charo on Salsoul, when the title was expanded to “(Mamacita) Donde Esta Santa Claus?” - but without the accent marks.
