Before the days of rock and roll, there were songs that stirred your heart.
This is one of those classic ballads of the 50s.
A sad but beautiful song about a love that was joy… but now is gone.
Imagine how it must feel… every year, as leaves begin to fall, you remember that sad day in autumn when you parted. ‘When autumn leaves turn to gold’… ‘That’s when I miss you most of all’.
Imagine how you would feel.
If you like to sing, the lyrics of this song will certainly bring emotion to your voice, tears to your eyes.
Frank Sinatra performed it with lots of expressive feeling… https://youtu.be/yvmZpCIM88MNat
Nat King Cole version was another 1950s hit... https://youtu.be/aCi59-y6dNg
If you have a Spotify account, Pandolfi’s piano version is worth saving to your background music playlist… https://open.spotify.com/album/2uzokcxqk8LEAgPmFh33XL
From Wikipedia:
"Autumn Leaves" is the English-language version of the French song "Les Feuilles mortes" ("The Dead Leaves") composed by Joseph Kosma in 1945. The original lyrics were written in French by Jacques Prévert, and the English lyrics were by Johnny Mercer.
Since its introduction "Autumn Leaves" has become a jazz standard of the “Great American Songbook”, and it is one of the most recorded songs by jazz musicians. More than a thousand commercial recordings are known to have been released by mainstream jazz and pop musicians.
