Demonstration of the Awa Odori dance in Tokushima, on Shikoku island, southern Japan. The Awa Dance Festival is held in mid-August and is one of Japan’s largest. Three dances are demonstrated here, followed by a display of the musical instruments used to accompany it: the Shamisen lute, Shinobue flute, Kane bell and Taiko drum.
