Machine-D (Indonesia) - Bronze at AVIMA 2010 Malaysia
ByVoizeon 30 Apr 2010 at 1:13am
Singapore’s Inch Chua bagged the first of her 6 nominations at AVIMA 2010. Her win for Best Pop/R&B act adds another feather to the many accolades she has been receiving across the region for her unique elctro-acoustic-pop style. What’s amazing is she’s shed her alt-rock skin from her previous outfit Allura and made her own path down the indie scene and it seems to be paying off.
Meanwhile, one of India’s top rock acts, Junkyard Groove won the Feelgood Song of The Year by a mile, winning judges over with their effervescent song called “Folk You”. Some of the songs off their11:11album can only be termed as “awesome” and they are early favorites to win at least another category that they have been nominated in.
There were also smiles aplenty from the runners-up of both categories with Nadhira Nishaa and King Lhota winning 2nd place in the Feelgood Song of The Year and Malaysian pop sensation, Senoritas notching 2nd spot for the Best pop/R&B act award.
Hard-working acts, Zedde (India) and Machine D (Indonesia) won 3rd place in the Feelgood and Best Pop act categories respectively.
AVIMA 2010 has been tagged as The World’s First Online Music Awards Festival, with the awards announcement spread across 4 days from April 30-May 3rd. The fun and cheeky part about the announcements is that it is done “LIVE” via facebook and editorial support being provided by ruumz.com and Voize.my. Also the organisers intentionally play a “cat and mouse” game with the fans and nominees by not letting them know when or what categories are to be announced on the web until the last minute.
Winners in both categories

2. Breaking Up – Nadhiraa (feat King Lhota) (Malaysia/Senegal)
3. Mumbai – Zedde (India)
