Description
(Note: This record has a very long lead-in groove!)
"Band of Gold" was written and composed by former Motown producers Holland–Dozier–Holland (under the pseudonym of Edythe Wayne) and Ron Dunbar. It was an instant hit when first played on AM Top 40 radio stations in 1970 and peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Note that the band playing on this record was actually the Motown house band known as the funk Brothers, under contract to HDH for their label, Invictus.
