Forced to write under the psuedonom of Edith Wayne because of their ongoing legal battle with Motown, Holland-Dozier-Holland, along with Ronald Dunbar, wrote Band Of Gold. Recorded on Freda Payne and released on their Invictus label, Band Of Gold, peaked at #5 on the Cash Box chart, week ending 7/25/70. It would be the start of Freda Payne's biggest era of success as a singer and enable H-D-H to prosper as a new label in the early 1970's.
