Advanced Tune Tuesday - Beaumont Rag

It’s hot out there my friends. But in here we keep rolling with the #2022advancedplayerschallenge and this week they say I have to record and post Beaumont Rag. So here we are. I often spend a little while recording these tunes, especially if I have to learn them. I do a few takes and pick the least offensive one. But for Beaumont this week, I figured I’d just do a quick inventory in my mind of the standard variations and just do one take and call it a wrap. This is yet another way that I can help myself detach from the mentality of working everything out down to the bow stroke and not leaving the room until I could play it perfectly 10 times in a row at full speed. Which is not an exaggeration. That’s exactly the way I practiced when I was a kid. Nobody made me do that, by the way, I just knew that was my best chance at winning and for me, fiddling was all about winning. I’m not mad about this mindset, to clarify. It’s just that it’s not who I am or what I want anymore but I still struggle with letting go of some of those habits. So here’s a one take rag in celebration of embracing different life chapters.
