On Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Anaheim Convention Center during Disney's annual D23 Expo, 12 people were chosen to become official Disney Legends. These people included Regis Philbin, Jim Henson, Jack Wrather (Disney Parks & Resorts), Bonita Wrather (Film), Guy Williams (Television), Bo Boyd (Consumer Products), and Raymond Watson (Administration).

Also included were a list of women who have voiced some of the most beloved Disney princesses, including Jodi Benson (Ariel, "The Little Mermaid"), Paige O'Hara (Belle, "Beauty and the Beast"). Lea Salonga (singing, Jasmine and Mulan, "Aladdin" and "Mulan" respectively), Linda Larkin (speaking, Jasmine, "Aladdin"), and Anika Noni Rose (Tiana, "The Princess and the Frog").

During the ceremony, after an introduction by Larkin, the actresses who supplied singing voices performed a mini-concert, each singing a signature song from their film.

As Belle has no major solo moments in "Beauty and the Beast" (with the exception of a reprise of "Belle"), Paige O'Hara elected to perform a medley of songs instead, which included "Belle," "Something There," "Beauty and the Beast," and "Be Our Guest," all with lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken.
