Ben Paterson, pianist/organist and Steinway Artist, talks with the founder of Chicago Jazz Magazine, Mike Jeffers, about his career and his influences.

Paterson talks about first starting out on piano at an early age and then discovering jazz music and being inspired to continue to grow as a musician. He attended the University of Chicago as a Political Science major but continued to practice his music and integrate himself in the Chicago Jazz scene.

Soon he was in legendary saxophonist, Von Freeman's band and he began to become a first call pianist and organist throughout Chicago. In the past few years he has moved to New York, toured throughout Europe with his own groups and is continuing to record and expand his playing.
