This is an odd one; it comes from a Chinese DVD that arrived on a re-writable DVD with fingerprints all over it, and an inlay hand-cut by scissors (crookedly) and printed on a domestic laser printer.

Production values are low but the sound is very good -

The performance on Butterfly Lovers is very good.

Slightly less so on Yellow River, due to the student orchestra forces, but still very listenable and I these two pieces are hard (not impossible) to come by in DVD performance, so there's definitely value. Additionally, this is the Western orchestration but does feature the pipa - not all performances do.

On both concertos, there appears to be no audience present, but the orchestra and soloists are in full concert dress.

The DVD sleeve is light on information; it doesn't even have a recording date, though a companion CD version was released in 2013... The video quality screams 1990s though (and the 4:3 aspect ratio is telling)... and I see that Lu Siging (Siqing) is now 53... in the video he looks like he's in his thirties so who knows?
