Booted Windows 11 from a MicroSD on Steam Deck OLED – Tried FL Studio and Recorded Vocals!

So I’ve been tinkering with my Steam Deck OLED and decided to see if I could push it beyond gaming. Just for fun, I booted Windows 11 from a MicroSD card to see how it would handle some different workloads. To my surprise, it worked pretty smoothly! 🙌

Naturally, I installed FL Studio because, why not? 🤷🏾‍♂️
I wasn’t expecting much, but the Steam Deck handled it better than I thought. I recorded some vocals using a studio condenser mic (Antelope Edge Duo) plugged into an audio interface (Audient Evo 8) and even mixed them with a few third-party plugins (EQs, compressors, etc.). It worked without any noticeable lag or issues. Honestly, I’m shocked at how well this little device handled music production!

For fun, I also tried running DaVinci Resolve 18, but that’s where I hit a roadblock. The GPU was unrecognizable, which made it unusable for now. But I’ve got a plan to hook up a simple eGPU to the Steam Deck and see if that solves the issue.
