CANCER is a British Death Metal band from Telford, Shropshire, England, formed in 1987 by drummer Carl Stokes, guitarist John Walker and bassist Ian Buchanan.
Over the course of their career, they have released six full-length albums, including one for the major label East West, and broke up twice (in 1996 and 2006).
The band reformed once again in 2013.

DEATH SHALL RISE is their second full-Length album released originally on 24 May 1991 through Restless Records in the US and Vinyl Solution in the UK.
James Murphy came to Morrisound Recording studios on a social visit, fresh off leaving OBITUARY, while CANCER were recording, they asked him to play some solos, which he did, and the next day he agreed to join.
