Description
A merchant in Seville was happily married. He and his wife had a daughter whom they loved dearly.
She fell ill and bled from her eyes, mouth, and nose. She became very pale.
The girl did not speak for three days, so her father, thinking that she was about to die, ordered a shroud and bought candles.
A friend advised him to take the girl to Santa Maria do Porto. He claimed that he had commended his dying wife to the Virgin and that she had been cured.
As soon as her parents had promised to take the girl to Santa Maria do Porto, and to make generous offerings, she opened her eyes and asked for something to eat. They gave her a very soft boiled egg and some bread. They all praised the Virgin.
Then, passing through Jerez, they took the girl to Santa Maria do Porto and held novenas in front of the high altar.
