Description

The Mike Stewart Band was formed in 1978 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) and played together until 1980. The line-up was:
Mike Stewart - Lead guitar and vocals
Keith Austin - Keyboards and vocals
Craig James - Drums and vocals
Rory McKenzie - Bass and vocals

In 1980 the guys scattered to the four corners of the earth - Mike returned to England, Keith moved southwards to South Africa, Craig emigrated to the USA and Rory headed to Australia.

In March this year when the Covid-19 lockdown hit the world Mike made contact with his former band mates to ask if they'd be interested in taking part in a lockdown video via the internet. Keith and Craig immediately agreed but unfortunately Rory couldn't be reached. Luckily, at short notice the band was able to engage the services of renowned bass player Covid Stig the 19th who was happy to show off his new front teeth.

For a long time Rhodesian fans had asked if any good recordings of the band existed, but although the band made numerous appearances on television, home video recorders were not yet a reality and no archive footage was available.

Carry on Wayward Son was a song which the band performed live on stage and one of the crowd favourites, so it was a natural choice as a first inter-continental recording project.
