We spent a weekend in the 9th ward of New Orleans meeting a whole cast of weirdos, musicians, songwriters and all around characters. Filmed entirely on miniDV film using a Sony Handycam from the late 90s. "the New Orleans tapes, live in the 9th ward."

Casper Allen (@lilcaspermane on instagram) is one of the most original, genre blending, unique, storytelling songwriters I've run across so far. We filmed this under a sketch ass bridge in the 9th ward around 1am, down the street from a party at sister st, the mythical house on the levee started by the infamous Pat Reedy and kept up by Chris Acker and his gang of songwriting good-timers.

The song isn't your typical hokey acoustic tropes - he weaves a story as contemporary & urban as it is classical blues. a st. james infirmary for the streets of the 21st century, ripe with codeine laced drinks, prostitutes, busy corner stores and fast lane life.
