Description

The CBU-87/B Combined Effects Munitions (CEM) is a 1,000-pound class, air-delivered cluster munition weapons system consists of a SUU-65 Tactical Munitions Dispenser (TMD) with an optional FZU-39 proximity sensor. A total of 202 BLU-97/B submunitions are carried in each dispenser. Each submunition contains a shaped charge to defeat armor, a scored fragmenting case effective against personnel and other soft targets and a zirconium ring fire start incendiary. personnel and material -- are loaded in each dispenser enabling a single payload attack against a variety and wide area cove.
