Description
"At the Bottom of Night" is one of my favorite pieces from Chrono Trigger, composed by the legendary Yasunori Mitsuda.
It’s one of the most emotional themes in the game, so I arranged it for solo nylon-string guitar with an emphasis on making the performance feel personal, close, and intimate. While I’ve preserved most of Mitsuda’s original thematic material, I’ve woven in subtle variations and interpretive choices that reflect my own style, while still respecting and preserving the spirit of the original composition.
The guitar comes from Orange Tree Samples’ Evolution Honey Nylon — a beautifully sampled and highly expressive nylon guitar library. To make it feel even more authentic, as if you were sitting in the same room, I added subtle room noise and chair creaks from Galaxy Instruments Noire (included in Native Instruments Komplete). These small details help bring a sense of realism and intimacy to the recording.
The result is a warm, textured, and heartfelt take on one of Chrono Trigger’s most haunting and memorable melodies.
