This vignette is a capture from my Wilderness Concerts series. This one was broadcast from the cabin of my yacht Concord of Mersea, lying in a secret anchorage on the Thames Estuary.

The programme, Stolen Years, is a story of life and love and sailing and of hope in the darkest of times. This exquisite little piece Colour Sepia was an exact fit for a moment in the story that lies just before the coming of the Second World War. Reading it now it feels like a photograph, faded, curled at the edges... a moment captured between heartbeats.

' We turned up the creek and came to anchor off the Ferry Inn and Harty at 1900 hours...The Inn looked very pretty when, standing on the hill as it does it, it was floodlit...A nice quiet place...lets hope it never changes'
