Description
Translation of the Brazilian singer Elis Regina's rendition of the song "Como Nosso Pais" (originally written and perfomed by Belchior, also a singer and songwriter born in Brazil), very famous in the 70s.
Both versions are Brazilian Popular Music classics, even though Elis immortalized the song with her strong vocal abiliity, being compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and others.
The song portrays the disillusion of a young generation (oppressed by the military dictatorship, which lasted 21 years, from 1964 until 1985) but still hopeful and fighting for changes.
