Description
Corelli-Arbós: Suite for Strings
The National Symphony Orchestra (Washington, D.C.)
Hans Kindler, conductor
Recorded on November 8, 1940, for RCA Victor, and issued in 1942 as Victor 11-8111. The matrix numbers are unknown, but both sides are first takes. The arrangement is credited to Kindler himself, but it is substantially the same as that of Enrique Arbós. All three movements are drawn from Corelli's set of twelve sonatas for violin and continuo, Op. 5:
1. Sarabande (Third movement of Sonata No. 7 in D minor)
2. Giga (Second movement of Sonata No. 9 in A) (at 4:10)
3. Badinerie (Fifth movement [Gavotte] of Sonata No. 11 in E) (at 6:43)
