--- LYRICS ---
The manual spoke of Qi, a cosmic, vital stream,
I just tried to fix the roof, lived out a hermit's dream.
Felt a tingle, nothing grand, while patching up a crack,
Next thing I knew, my vital force was neatly in its track.
Foundation? Built a sturdy shed, for tools and winter grain,
The masters nodded sagely, "He understands the pain...
Of discipline!" I just shrugged, the floorboards felt quite sound,
Unknowing that my spirit base was solidly profound.
Oh, the Dao just does its thing, I mostly tag along,
Stumble into power, humming a distracted song.
Realms ascend, and eons pass, it's all a bit absurd,
Guess I'm cultivating, by misinterpreting the Word.
One morning, after breakfast tea, a rather potent brew,
I coughed up something shiny, gold, and strangely new.
A "Golden Core," they whispered, with awe and fearful glance,
I thought it'd make a decent die for some new tabletop chance.
It pulsed with power, warm and bright, a rather useful glow,
Helps me find my spectacles, when I don't know where they go.
My cultivation soared, it's true, a rather neat effect,
From what I still suspect was just some indigestion, unchecked.
Oh, the Dao just does its thing, I mostly tag along,
Stumble into power, humming a distracted song.
Realms ascend, and eons pass, it's all a bit absurd,
Guess I'm cultivating, by misinterpreting the Word.
A tiny me popped in my head, they call it Nascent Soul,
Mostly gives critiques on tea, or if my robes are whole.
"Your aura's slightly off today," it pipes up, sharp and clear,
While I'm just trying to recall where I left my fishing spear.
My flying sword, a legend's blade, so ancient and so keen,
Is excellent for slicing fruit, the sharpest ever seen.
Those talismans of mighty ward, with sigils dark and deep?
They keep the rain off my tomatoes, while the seedlings gently sleep.
Oh, the Dao just does its thing, I mostly tag along,
Stumble into power, humming a distracted song.
Realms ascend, and eons pass, it's all a bit absurd,
Guess I'm cultivating, by misinterpreting the Word.
The sky turned black, the thunder roared, a Heavenly Tribulation!
The kind that tests a cultivator's will and dedication.
The lightning flashed, I thought, "Ah, drat, the laundry's still outside,"
And used a sacred artifact to keep my garments dried.
The bolts just seemed to miss me, or perhaps they didn't care,
One singed a patch of stubborn weeds I'd meant to clear from there.
The trial passed, the heavens calmed, the elders looked impressed,
I just was glad the sudden storm hadn't disturbed my rest.
They say I've touched the Primal Void, understood the Great Unseen,
It might have happened when I sought a truly perfect bean
For coffee, rich and dark and strong, a moment of pure bliss,
Perhaps enlightenment is found in simple things like this?
Or maybe it's just simpler still, no grand design or fate,
I just keep tripping upwards, towards some immortal state.
So now I wander starry skies, an immortal, free and bright,
The cosmic winds are pleasant, and the nebulae a sight.
They call me Sage, or Ancient One, titles grand and vast,
I mostly wonder if this cloud will make a good repast.
Eternal life is... interesting. A long, peculiar show.
Still got my tea, my comfy robes. Onwards, I suppose, I go.
