Daddy takes me out sometimes, just us two,
To the park or for a drive with skies so blue.
He tells me stories, jokes that make me giggle,
Sometimes his phone buzzes and he starts to wiggle.

He says, “Don’t tell Mommy 'bout my secret friend,”
She’s really, really nice and plays pretend.
We eat ice cream and she sings to me too,
But Mommy’s never there, that’s nothing new!

She wears shiny shoes and smells like flowers,
They talk and laugh for hours and hours.
One time I asked if she’s family too,
Daddy just smiled and said, “Shhh, that’s our little clue!”

He says, “Don’t tell Mommy 'bout my secret friend,”
It’s a grown-up game, I don’t comprehend.
But secrets are fun, and Daddy says it's right,
So I keep it tucked away every night.

Sometimes Mommy cries when she thinks I don’t see,
I give her a hug and sit on her knee.
I wish she had a secret friend too—
Maybe then she wouldn’t feel so blue.

Daddy’s got a secret friend I met,
But I love Mommy too, don’t you forget.
Maybe when I'll grow, I understand,
For now I just want to hold their hands.
