Description
Wrapped Around Your Finger by The Police is a beautiful (albeit rather dark and haunting) and sophisticated pop song and the drum part by Stewart Copeland perfectly matches the beauty and sophistication.
Stewart hardly ever plays just straight ahead eights on the hi-hat or ride. He almost always adds flourishes, accents, and unexpected rhythms that make his drum parts so expressive, and this is no exception. The way he tastefully implemented the splashes, toms, and bells into the song is masterful.
My cover of the drum part is of course a bit more clunky than the original, but I think you will agree that few drummers have the golden touch of Stewart Copeland.
