E Ku'u Morning Dew Eddie Kamae (b. 1927)
arr. Keola Beamer (b. 1951)
Hawaiian slack key guitar is an independent sub-genre within finger-style guitar. With little outside influence, Hawaiian musicians have developed their own form of finger-style guitar using unique tunings and chord voicings which reflect their beautiful country and lifestyle. Over the past 50 years, Keola Beamer has been a driving force in Hawaii's cultural renaissance, and in 2010 received the "Lifetime Achievement" award from the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts in Honolulu. "E Ku'u Morning Dew," written in 1973 by Eddie Kamae, represents the coming of a new day, and the love with which we must welcome it.
