Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977) [Aged 42 years], also known simply as Elvis, was an American singer and actor. Dubbed the "King of Rock and Roll", he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines during a transformative era in race relations, led him to both great success and initial controversy.
I had this one on 78 RPM when I was a kid. Brought it to a friend’s house so a group of us could learn to dance to it for our grammar school graduation back in ‘69. I never saw it again. I’ll have to look up on EBAY to see what it’s worth today 52 years later.
I originally had this one synched to the video of Elvis’s 1st performance of it on January 6, 1957 on The Ed Sullivan Show. I chickened out on the video, as I already have 2 copyright strikes against me on YouTube, 1 more and they shut me down. ...so I shelved it for 2 years. I wanted to get it out there, so I dummied it down with this simple slide-show to keep it copacetic.
About the MONO mix:
I got the mono source from another YouTube video. I recently acquired the CD: "ELV1S- 30 #1 Hits", but this track wasn’t as good as the mono YouTube video I stumbled upon around 2 years ago. The CD was not well mastered and was very disappointing.
About my DES mix:
For the vocals, I centered them and gave them a brighter EQ. I panned the Guitar and Piano Left with opposing reverb in the Right. I panned the drums Right with opposing reverb into the Left. I gave the bass a better low-end EQ and kept it centered.
Technical Information:
Since I did this one quite a while ago at the beginning of the pandemic, I’m not sure which software I used for the sound source separation. It’s either SPLEETER or SpectraLayers PRO-7. I isolated the Vocals, Guitar, Piano, Drums and Bass into 5 separate tracks. Adobe Audition was used for Dynamic Range recovery, Reverb, Delay, EQ, and final mixdown. NERO 2019 Platinum used to generate the final video.
